Updates from MakerCraft Studio - April 21

Hi, everyone,

So much accomplished in the past month!

Patti retired from her "day job" on April 1!

Patti and Joe traveled to Texas for the eclipse (saw some of it... it was cloudy), and for a long-overdue visit with her family.

While they were gone, Rob continued work downstairs and replaced the windows on the first level. So much more light now!

Gail and Toni worked on painting the trim in the living room upstairs.

Patti and Joe brought back a donation of a rug and a quilt from our friends George and Sandie.

Once we were back, Patti returned to quilting some of the quilts for our bedrooms. This is one Cass made.

The wonderful Dapper Scrappers helped us move some furniture donated by our friend Lea to our storage unit. That unit is getting full (thanks for ALL the donations!).

Joe has started removing the old radiators on the second floor.

Patti and Cass continue to strip wallpaper. This will be the Black and White bedroom.

We bought a lawnmower so Joe can start cutting our grass.

This week, Rob framed the room and built the walls for the downstairs bedrooms.

Patti worked on the upstairs kitchen. She re-hung the newly cabinet doors, painted a stand-alone corner cabinet, scrubbed the floor, and painted the trim on the half wall and replaced the wallpaper on that wall.

Joe continued his wall repair work.

We also bought some appliances at our local ReStore, and once again, the Dapper Scrappers helped us move them.

This weekend, Toni and Gail painted the living room walls, and Sean and Shelly started painting the trim in the purple room.

If you'd like to help, check out our "wish list" on our website (www.makercraftstudio.com) -- it's constantly being updated. If you'd like to donate money (either as an outright donation or as prepayment for a future class or retreat stay), you can mail us a check (payable to MakerCraft Studio) to the address at the bottom of this email, or we accept PayPal at info@makercraftstudio.com.

Thank you again for all the support you've shown us!

~Patti, Cass, Rob, and Joe

Dear Friends and Supporters, Things are really moving along! Drywall has been installed, and painting of the first floor is almost complete. Our contractor, Eddie, and his crew stayed after finishing the drywall to help us paint the large space downstairs, while Patti, Joe, and Hanna painted the downstairs bedrooms, bathroom, and hallway. Eddie's wife Ruth is painting the trim in the main room. We think the black and white is stunning in that space, but we also love our colorful bedrooms....

Dear Friends and Supporters, We are excited to let you know that we passed our insulation inspection and drywall has begun! We don't have a lot of photos to share this time because the only visible change has been installation of drywall. Rob, Joe, and Patti first started by installing vapor barrier and then drywall went up. This week, they are taping and mudding the drywall. The addition of drywall has made a huge difference in the feel of the space -- it's getting real! Among the "hidden"...

Dear Friends and Supporters, You haven't heard much from us, because what we've been doing isn't very exciting -- but it's crucial work! The most visible accomplishment was Rob getting our new columns placed on the rebuilt front porch! With our friend Toni's help, the columns and the front door got a first coat of paint. Patti started scraping around the windows on the front of the building. The primary activity over the past two weeks has been insulation installation! All four of us have...
